The product certification (CE Marking) is a procedure of validating that a product manufacturing process is reviewed, and it states that the product is assessed before being placed on the market and complies with all national and/or EU legislative requirements.
The product certification (CE Marking) is required for many products. The CE marking indicates a product’s compliance with EU specific standards and so enables the free movement of products within the European market.
Other than Management System Certification, CE Marking Compliance is not a voluntary process. Affixing the CE Mark on a product exported to Europe is a legal requirement for any manufacturer.
By affixing the CE marking to a product, it shows that the manufacturer has:
- Verified that the product complies with all relevant essential requirements (e.g. health and safety or environmental requirements) laid down in the applicable directive(s) and
- If stipulated in the directive, had it examined by an independent conformity assessment body.
